    Beware Of Car Toyz

so on saturday i bought a new alpine deck from best buy...today i dropped it off at car toyz.
#1: when the car is done, how about the courtesy call to tell me it's done?
#2: why doesnt every employee just jump off a cliff?
they have crappy customer service and my electrical system so screwed up bad. here's what isnt working now..
Right Side: front parking light, both sidemarkers, and taillight
    Left Side: rear sidemarker
Interior: gauge cluster lights, and dash lights
i gave them a little ring and they will "look" at it tomoro (tuesday)...
any advice on how to handle it..without a Colt .45 ?

Did you check your fuses? I have had one whole side of my car go out (front/rear side markers and parking) because of a fuse.

when i got my headunit installed i couldnt use my headlights with my stereo. they took power for the headunit from the headlight circuit and overloaded it when i used both. i was pissed. they simply took power from the ignition and the problem was fixed. now headlights and music!!

this "feature" is called "Daylight Radio", and is an extra charge.

Listening to your stereo at night is dangerous, see? Safety first!

I am finding that many of these so-called technicians get their training out of a book and use the "paint by numbers" process when it comes to installing a stereo but they really have no concept of basic electronics. All they know is wire colors but they have no idea as to what wires do or how they function.

Secondly, the electrical system in a BMW is very senstitive. One wrong move or one bad hookup and you are LUCKY if a blown fuse is the only consequence. Its very likely that you can fry the computer or cause some other component to malfunction.

That's the last thing I would do, unless it was a well known REPUTABLE shop. (maybe a chain?)
10 bucks says they hack it up worse.

In Oregon, a shop has 3 attempts to fix an issue. If they are not successful in 3 tries, they are responsible for the repair bill.

Litigation aside, you are welcome to call me if you want. 541-747-1171
