I had the EXACT same problem. sunroof drain pipe disconnected. Used it as leverage when i bought he car. :D -
Im going to check out the sunroof first because I always have it cracked. then the antennae maybe I can retrofit something a little cooler looking, I've been thinking one off an sS2000. Thanks. I'll update if/when I figure it out and you guys can check yours.Leave a comment:

the sunroof has drain tubes that run down the C pillars and out near the rear bumper... however, if they're blocked from dirt and junk (inside where you can't get at them) they'll need to be blown out. the dealer can do it, or i'm sure you could devise a way to do it with compressed air.
also, those drain tubes (look kinda like 3/4" OD coolant hose) connect to the outside by black plastic holders on the inside of where the bumper mounts... they can come disconnected - as mine did - and dump into the battery area or jack area.
I reconnected mine, drained the area with a turkey baster... and no more leakage.
Just as a precaution, though, i actually took a power drill and drilled a tiny hole from under the car into the battery tank area, and rust-oleum coated it. that way if any water does get in there somehow, i won't have to worry about rusting out my valance.Leave a comment:

My water in the trunk problem went away after I cleaned out all of the leaves, dirt and other gunk surrounding the outside edge of the trunk seal. I think that water was collecting around the gap and spilling over into the trunk. Even though my antenna seal has a 1/4 inch gap around it, the water problem went away after cleaning the gap.Leave a comment:

mine is leaking on to the battery tray
no holes or bad lineing, so would you say the lid is just not tight enough?Leave a comment:

In the matter that its blocked drainage, how do you get in there to unblock it?
lol "Draino" the E30. Yeah right.
As for the antenna seal, its easy and cheap to replace, and I had to do it when I got my car, it was missing completely for some stupid reason, but most are rotted out. Its a $5 part off eBay, and removing the antenna mast is 3 screws so you can put in the new one. Do it.Leave a comment:

Ive got thhe same problem.
Mine is coming in partly due to a messed up antenna (seeps down)
Also due to the rear taillight gasket.
Other reasons:
-Blocked Drainage
-Loose Spoiler
that is all i can think of that i checked.
Get in the trunk and have someone pour water onto all of thoes areas and see if you can see where it is coming from.
Hope this helps a little.

water in my trunk
I had about 4 inches of water in that dip where jack mounts. Where did it come from? I looked around and couldn't find and rust or cracks, the shock tower loks ok too. It was raining for a few days before. Could the sunroof or any other drainage get plugged and it all pooled there? my only other explaination was that someone dumped water in there since I had my tail lights out for 2 days while I painted them.
I want to figure out because if its rain water getting in while I drive I wanna fix it before it happens again. Doesn't rain much here in San Diego and I will probably forget by the time it rains again, plus I never use the trunk, I was only in there to remount my lights when my little sister asked me what the water was for.Tags: None
