Judging by your sig pic, you've got a 4000q. The last decent Audi made, IMO.
The 80/90 was okay, but began the downhill slide into mediocrity and PITA to work on. Replace a heater core in a 90 and you'll see what I mean. The 5000/100/200 was a great car, when it ran and didn't leak Pentosin. That car single-handedly killed Audi's reputation.
The A4 seemed like a step in the right direction, but the numb steering, failure-prone control arms and a general nightmare to service kept me from buying one. The current crop are all very fast, very capable cars that will break in expensive fashion. And pray you never wreck one; more often than not they are totals, because they are crammed to the gills with expensive plastic doodads that explode on impact. The mounting design of the intercooler alone shows the engineers had their heads up their asses.

I'd rather replace 40 BMW window regulators than do anything under the hood of a A4/Passat.

The problem with a lot of these new cars is that people are not putting the correct oil, coolant, filters in them. Audi and VW to keep cost down to not offer free oil changes etc such as BMW MB so the owners are swinging by and getting 10 dollar oil changes from some joe blow. Wrong oil +sludge problem+ bad news.

I have owned several audis with good luck. I have several friends with new Audi's that love them.

I am looking for a 80's sport quattro anyone have a lead??

As much as I hate to admit, I enjoyed my 1987 Audi 5000 S, it would leave me stranded sometimes, but then it would start up 2 minutes later, and it was an odd, but fun car. The heat would be ready on a freezing day in about 1 actual minute...but I'll never go back.

The # of balljoints and the rapidity they go bad in A4's is also what killed their rep.
Not to mention the hour long process to remove the undertray on an AllRoad so you can change the oil...
Or the control arms going bad
or the bad electronics in the cabin

Pre-90's Audi's arent nearly as crappy as todays Audis. but then again, todays BMW's are getting cheap as heck too.

If you get an audi make sure you have excellent cell phone reception in your area. Hopefully you enjoy walking/public transportation.

Just because you agree with somebody doesn't make them intelligent.

Yeah, I see 3-5/week. I also deal with BMWs, Porsches, Benz, and the ocasional Lexus. I think that makes me more qualified to speak on how reliable they are, or aren't.
