Here is all that hold your entire e30 together...

So recenly parted out a car - and I took the extra time to gather every nut and bolt to save for furture projects. Guys that do a ton of motor swaps, and stuff will realize the value of having this around. Honestly, it's not for sale, it's worth it's weight in GOLD to have around....

So with that, here is EVERY NUT AND BOLT holding your car together....

A 13mm flex head there in the center shown for size.

In the tin can are bolts over 13mm, 17's and 19's.

Keep in mind the parts car left draggin it body work on the ground (on the frame rails)

Shoot man i got a parts car and i was wondering how many bolts were holding it together.
I need to start saving them instead of throwing at buddies helping me tear it apart.

I have a big Stanley organizer that I keep all the hardware from parting out cars in, I've done about 4 of them. It's nice to have all that hardware handy when you need it.

A nut & bolt can is priceless. Everyone should have one. Its like the ultimate status symbol for every gearhead, handyman, tinkerer, and technician. I was plesantly surprised by this woman who was not mechanically inclined and asked me to assemble some of her furniture. I got to a point where I broke one of the plastic pieces that holds the corner of the shelf together. It was one of those moments where I said, "Oh shucks!" and when she heard my cry of disgust, she brought this mayonaise jar of screws, nails, paperclips, etc.. Ahh.. even women have a nut & bolt jar!

I mean you can't buy this stuff.. and it takes years to make a very good collection and no amount of money can replace it if its ever lost. Even if the exact screw, nail, nut, bolt, or other doo-dad is not in your collection, chances are there is something else that might work. Good luck trying to explain your problem to the pimple-faced dork in Home Depot. He won't know the first thing about using short wood screws and an L-bracket to keep the bottom of the dresser from splitting apart.

Ok.. That settles it. I am going to the auction to buy a beater for $50 and harvest all of the nuts bolts and screws to sell on ebay.. and now that I am thinking about it, this would make a great reality game show idea.

Maybe have a contest amongst 3 mechanics to identify every nut bolt and screw on a particular automobile. They are given a bucket of the bolts and a 500 page manual listing all of the parts and how they are bolted on the car and the first one to categorize and identify every bolt correctly wins $1,000,000. Or even better.. show the bolt on the screen. Where does this bolt go? "Uhh... thats the bolt that holds the differential on the chassis.. and thats the bolt that connects the brake caliper to the front strut housing!" I can name that bolt in 10 words! I can name it in SIX words! NAME THAT BOLT! And if you want bonus points- tell us the actual size of the wrench that turns it.

Exactly... If I was to do a m30 swap on my own. I'd gladly pay $100 for a set of bolts.

Weight is around 40 pounds...50 if you count sub frame brackets and subframe bolts..

Go to the next step - a shade tree mechanic can do work just like a "big buck, big name restorer". Take them to your local plater & have them re-zinked/cad plated. A 50# bucket of bolts is @ $25. Nothing like a cleaned up, repainted part going on with bright shiny nuts & bolts!

You should see what I collected after working at Precision for a year... The bottom shelf of my Matco roll around was full. I should have thought about this before I shucked it all!

I think I had a couple left from the head job on my Benz, hum... I guess I will start a collection!

Man, and I have junked two e30s
