If you like the 87, then I don't see why not.

As long you know all problems, if any, and there aren't any surpsies, I don't know why not?

So, the body needs paint work? or, are you talking about bumpers and whatnot?

If you need help, I can tell you all the sources I checked for E30s. http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1235
A lot of people have found that helpful.

I passed up on some E30s, because I wanted the right one. I'd hold on to find a late model 325i if I were you. It could be worth the wait.

Hey lets think about this for a minute...
Is the guy being completely upfront about everything with you? It seems to me that he was posting questions on other forums asking for help starting his car...and you found them without him knowing/telling you? I would definately have second thoughts about buying from that seller... Also, the car has been driven hard and has quite high miles...kind of a remedy for trouble. Consider the risk of buying a cheap car and having to spend $$BANK$$ on repairing it. Look into buying a car with lower miles and that hasn't been abused for a slightly higher price. Where have you looked for a car? Obviously ebay.com...but there are others: craigslist.org occasionaly has cars for sale in your area, autotrader.com, cars.com, and maybe even think of traveling a bit to get a bimmer...as sometimes it is worth the risk and cost as it can definately pay off with a cheap e30. I've probably just told you a bunch of general shit, that anyone else could have said, but consider the risk. I'm looking for an e30 too and am taking time to do so also! Just getting impatient! Ayyyyyyy! hehe Good luck and I'll keep you posted if I happen to find any in your area...

Oh, I would absolutely go for a is, 318is even, but i think it'd be easier to find a 325i. Plus, if you are budget minded, an i would probably be easier to find cheaper.

I think i am going to go check out the car, give it a spin, have a dealer or bmw mechanic give it a thorough checking, with special attention to the engine and head gasket (since he said in the other thread that after he replaced it the car wouldn't start  ).

If the mechanic decides its perfectly sound mechanically, and if the body work is just some things i can sand & repaint, then i will probably haggle the price down a bit due to body damage, mileage, and its history of use.

What do you guys think? And what do you think would be a fair offer if the above is true?

i haven't found anything on autotrader in decent condition, the local bmw cca forums have jack diddly in their classified ads, and roadfly has had three WA listings in the past few months, all of which were terrible buys/shape.
did you try northwest classifieds? (www.nwclassifieds.com)

they usually have a few e30s on there

found a few cars on the North West Classifieds site...
there is a car in Seattle...$3400 for (supposedly) a 320iS, which is only supposed to exist in europe...(smaller version of the M3 s14 engine!)...but it is likely that its just a typo and is actually a 325iS: http://classifieds.nwsource.com/auto...cfm?id=2631729
or another '90...this time a car that exists in the US, 325i, needing work for $1600 in Everett

not too many, but if you talk to the owner of the 320is, you may luckily find that it works for you: price, condition, location, etc.
anyway, you probably already saw that too, but either way, good luck on your e30 search
