Kellie just called. The driver got there a day early. Apparently all the other techs at the dealership were going gaga over the car. I'm sad, I won't be back in town 'till Friday. Argh. Can't wait to see the thing. She said it's mind blowingly neat.
The glass guy is going to toss the new windshield into her tomorrow with all new gaskets (thanks for the recommendation, Bob), then she'll be taking her home to put safely in the garage 'till I get back.

What an amazing car. I literally spent over an hour just exploring it. It definitely drew a crowd at work, everyone was super impressed with the car and how well it was put together! I parked the iX next to it to unload some of the spare parts, and it made the poor little stock iX look so...boring. With the exception of a few minor things (no freaking power steering, for example), the car is absolutely perfect just the way it is.
Bob, did you draw up those wiring diagrams yourself? I didn't get a good look at them, but I saw them when I was flipping through the notebook of reciepts. Congratulations on building the car everyone wishes they could build. You've got my respect, and the respect of pretty much EVERY tech at my dealership. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
P.S. I'm more excited than Ben.sigpic

Too bad SuperDooperBobbyCooper installed the knee killer bar in that car. While he may be invincible, anyone else who has an accident in that thing will be piecing together knee-caps.
Oh, and I nominate Ben & Kellie to be the new Jordan/Kristen of R3V. Dating couples posting in each other's threads....

Wow, thanks for the comments. That car was a labor of love for almost 2 years. It in my garage and I just took it one step at a time and tried to think everything through as I went along. There are some things that I never got to finish with that car but all in all, I think it turned out pretty good.
I cant tell you how much it means to me to have the car back in Ben's possesion and for it to be so appreciated. I went through the same bs as Ted(egk2) with the buyer of his car and it really sucks watching someone destroy something you worked so hard at. I have to admit that I'm also glad the car is back in Cali and some of the E30 guys will be able to see it.
I went with the power steering for a couple of reasons. The primary reason was the direct feedback you get from a non power setup. I know it can be a pain when trying to park and drive around town but trust me, once you get it on the track you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Secondly, it made the motor swap a lot cleaner, not to mention its just cool to have a euro rack in the car.
When you say wiring diagrams, I think you mean some of my notes on the wiring for the conversion. Yeah, thats me. Installing car stereos in my younger years gave me a good understanding of 12 volt systems.
I appreciate the comments, I just wish I could have bypassed the guy I sold it to and gone right to Matt Sharma(Matt took care of the car VERY well). I'm glad you are pleased with the car now but believe me, the car was absolutely pristine before I sold it. Nothing that cant be fixed or cleaned up, but I made a bad decision selling it to that kid.
Again, I look forward to seeing a ton of pics of the car and you guys enjoying it. That motor was built for reliability with the headwork that was done by VAC and some of the other things that were done so dont be afraid to drive it hard!
And dont hesitate to send me an email or PM if you guys have any questions.Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..
