go out and get a jump box. i have 2. most jump boxes come with a warning so if you connect the wrong terminals, it would make a buzzing sound as soon as it happens.

it just recently happened to me. i went to help jump a friend's iX and i slapped my jump box on. i couldn't tell which color was where and just as i connected the black to the red, the buzzer went off. a simple swap and all was good.

plus, jumpboxes are cheap and always useful.

I've seen batteries explode. Always remember to check for frozen batteries....

Wow...I would be willing to bet that I have put battery chargers on more cars than all of you combined (keep in mind I have been a professional stereo installer since 1980...we kill batteries) and I have only seen a couple of reversed wires, never have I seen a battery explode or anything anywhere near dangerous...except the retard customer who zapped the tranny cooler lines on his old Nova while tightening the battery terminals...blew a hole right in that bastard too!

I suppose the basic deal is this: If you cannot tell which is which, CLOSE THE FUCKING HOOD AND CALL A TOWTRUCK! Seriously....

It is entirely safe these days to connect to the terminals. This is not 1950, batteries are far more sealed than they were back then. Just don't be stupid, be aware that they do emit hydrogen, don't do the whole Hindenburg thing.

Agreed, I always connect right to the terminals, but I'll tell ya what, that guy who didnt check to see if the one battery was a block of ice about crapped his pants when he hit the switch on the StartAll.

Yea pretty much. That guy was a real prize. Thus my mentioning this on r3v, I can see that happening. (though I doubt it would be as cool, that StartAll kicks ass!)
