The 325e usually comes stock with a 2.79 or 2.91. A nice upgrade if you still want fairly low revs on the freeway would be the 3.25, if you want it to be nice and quick around town, get the 3.73, that's what I am putting in my 85 325e. If you want a nice median between the 2, there is a 3.46 which is a little rare though.

Hope that helps a bit :)

Thanks guys helps a lot, just a quick question while i'm running away from running my research paper.

What are the avg or estimated gas mileages for those diffs... and can u list what diffs come in what cars so i can go to the junkyard. Theres an 87 325is that came yesterday but i didn't go.

depends on the diff. If its from a 5 series you need to swap covers and flanges.

I have the 3.25 and I still get about 27-28 on the highway and about 23 in the city. My top speed actually increased a few MPH.
            Im now E30less.
