motor swap VS rebuilding tranny?

i've got a slew of little problems with the car.
everything in the car vibrates when i'm at speed, and even more when i step on the gas. i was told that this was the u-joint or drive shaft. i forget which.

And so i'm wondering, how much would it cost for each? and if i do the motor swap, which engine should i put in?

now if i do a complete engine swap, will the car have any more problems? is there anything else major that can go wrong afterward? or will the car be sound for the life of the engine?

if the motor swap will only cost a grand or two more and it will be a like new car, i'd really like to do it.

an m50 will make it a lot smoother and reliable.

first why don't you just replce the center support bearing, that is all that usually goes bad on the DS... and replace the flex disc while you are there.

where's the center support?
what's the DS?
and the flew disc?
and which car did the m50 belong to?

the only thing i can say is that no car is going to be 'sound for the life of the engine'. Many many things can go wrong aside from the engine, transmission, driveline, suspension, brakes, electric... etc..

An engine swap isn't going to make the rest of the car magically brand new again. Other major things would be suspension, driveline, shifting mechanism, electrical, whether the car has rust...if you're hoping to get a brand new car out of your e30 you'd better be prepared for a lot of work and $$. With that said, you can make your e30 into a very reliable and fun car for a lot less work and money. It all depends on your car's current condition, and how much time/money you are willing to drop into it.
