Maybe Just Maybe (my next car) 1er

I was thinking of buying a touring and heard and read that the 1er is coming to the states, so after a visit to the local BMW dealer I think im starting to like these bad boys. I dont think i would get the 135i but maybe something under it, say if they just had a 130i, im test driving a 130i this weekend, and starting to save up the $ for one when i get back from Iraq. lets see what BMW sends our way for the US market with the 1.

what do you guys think of it? I'll keep the M3 for fun and as my toy, and the 1er will be my DD.

The 135, the 3.5 litre diesel is in the works right now with 500 ft lbs and like 250 hp. This is according to a source to remain un-named at a BMW test facility. I think that car would be amazing :)

The milage on that car must be amazing. Chevrolet made a handful of diesel chevettes that got pretty good gas milage even though the car itself was too crappy.

if BMW brings the e87 to the states with an option for a diesle, i will get that instead. I love racking up 800+kms on a single 55 liter tank. thats like 38+MPG!!!

I just had the opportunity to drive a 120d in Italy last week. Fun little car. IMO it was one of the funnest cars I've driven in a long time. Not the fastest thing in the world but not the slowest either. WAY faster than any m42 and with the torque of the diesel and the fuel economy of the diesel it's a no brainer!

I paid 1.28EUR/liter over there for fuel. There is only one grade of gasoline in Italy. We paid $1.14EUR/liter for diesel over there. To fill our little Fiat Punto we had (gas) cost ~56 Euro. That's ~$72!!!!

Diesel over there is cheaper, more readily available, is cheaper to produce in the refinement process (it along with kerosene is a biproduct of gasoline) and the new low sulpher fuels are really clean burning.

The 120d car was an amazing ride. I want one very badly. I'll put up a link with my pictures on Photobucket shortly... Lots of 1-series, e36 tourings, and tons of others... only saw two or three e30's over there, one e30 touring, one e21, and tons of newer 3's, 5'ers, 6'es & 7's
