My 88' 325is which was bought new in Germany has skid plates. Must have been a factory option. The front oilpan plate is 1/4'' thick steel with a hole cut in it to get to the oil filter. There is also a 1/8'' thick plate for the tranny pan..

I want a skid plate because I daily my e30 and i am going to drop the front 60mm leaving the oil pan about 3 inches off the asphalt. I dont care what you think, a skid plate will help save me $ down the road if anything where to happen.
