Yours is easily the nicest heat shield I have ever seen!

Drywall makes a good heat shield. I cut out 3 pieces to fit the corner, cut out a perfect circle for the intake and wrapped it in chicken wire.

And really that is the main reason for doing the mode - the intake roar at WOT.

Where is the cold air coming from?? With the plastic shield behind the headlamps still in place, you've effectively removed the cold air source instead of improved it. The stock system has a direct path for the air right into the airbox.
Nice job, just a step in the wrong direction I'm afraid.

..which leads back to my original post:
"I'm using the stock airbox and I think it's pretty well designed actually. When I bought mine, the little horn piece on the front was just lying unconnected behind the headlight assembly. I can't figure out how to affix it correctly, it just doesn't seem to want to snap on there right. Does the horn thing really help that much?"

                        Thoughts?

that horn is THE cold air source of the stock airbox. You should be able to rotate it until it fits.

I am alive. Just super busy.

Not sure I can help you though. I don't have any e30 twin cam shields in stock and don't plan on getting any made for awhile. This is one of the few shields I still do by hand as the design is not popular enough to take to production.

One guy cut up my 318is shield and made it work on a twin cam swap. It came out well.
