Places to source the Halon extinguisher with seat bracket???

I had one in the trunk but the mounting brackets on all the Firex ones suck. I know there were a few OCD guys like me floating around that had a small halon one that mounted under the knee support part of the seat.

Seeing as how my cold start injector just started puking fuel over the nice hot exhaust manifolds and all the oddball wiring I should have one on me.
    Im now E30less.

are you sure you want a halon system in your cabin? Halon is getting phased out. It may cost you alot more down the road if it needs to be recharged. We ran into this problem on our boat last year.

I want the non-car-damaging dry kind. David has large ones in his racecars.

Why are they dangerous or damaging to he environment?

Can't we leave it for the next generation to worry about ?

Screw the grandkids. Im cold now.

So if Halon is bad for the earth then what is the replacement that wont damage my car?

I want it to be compact and have a mount so its hidden under the seat. The recharge cost isnt the big concern.

halon contains cfc's much like r12 does and it attacks the ozone in the same way. which is not allowed in canada anymore and if i remeber the united states.
halon extinguisher where used in basicly all us fighter aircrafts unitll the government made them sign an agreement to phase them out. they used them for the same reason ryan stated, non damaging and invisble to the eye so the fighter could still attempt to fly. i say if you can find a halon extinguisher go for it, non damaging and probuly one of the best extinguishers you could use in a vehicle.

Hmm ok. That link does answer a few questions on what does what. They mention CEA-614 being legal for SCCA racing but there isnt a mention on 1211 or 1301 Halon.

They have a small Amerex handheld but the bracket wont mount to my seat body. Is that a BMW specific part or does someone stock something that will go on the underbody of the seat?

Aren't halon extinguishers the ones that suck up all of the oxygen? The engine room on our boat has an extinguisher system that emits some chemical that soaks up all of the oxygen in the room. So if you're in there, you're gonna die when it goes off. When our boat was being worked on in Ft. Lauderdale, one of the guys working on one of the diesels somehow tripped it and someone standing near the door had to dive in and drag him out really quick and close the door. Very close call.

we sell an aqueous foaming solution system called the firecharger.. uses a CO2 cartridge to fire... check it out here... not pushing us, just the product.. http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/store.p...428&method=cat. firecharger systems are pretty nice... the PCA guys seem to love em.

basically Halon sucks at everything except putting fires out. very efficient and quick, but nasty stuff...
