I just got back from germany last night. i will post what pics my girlfriend had on her camera. the bunch of pics i took, i decided to leave in Köln for some lucky person to have. :(
it was nice meeting you guys. Thanks again for the ride mark even though we did try that shortcut across the grass once. ;)
the M5 meeting me turned out to be an e36 M3 tuned by a special german tuner... to which i will find the details again. the unfortunate part about the ring trip was that i didnt have a chance behind the wheel of this car. instead i had to drive the Mercedes A-class... which was surprisingly balanced but slow as a dog. I had wheels sliding before it felt anything close to rolling.
Nice to meet you to fella.. hope you enjoy'd the ride.. Ended up with a 9min 20 run once i learnt the track a bit better..lol Going back in september and the january.. can't wait..
MORE PIC'S if you got them...

I wonder how those Germans get the 2002's and E30 ///M3's to pass TuV? I heard it gets harder every year!

That's why you don't see any older cars in Germany. Road salt did its damage years ago and the very strict TUV inspections. I only saw one 2002 on the road and very few E30's. The only place I saw old BMW's and other makes was at the Nurburgring Historics in 2004. I was at a car show in Ludwigshafen and I saw old school US Spec Benz's for sale. These So Cal cars had been exported back to Germany because lack of rust made them desirable to buyers. The car corral's at the Historics (Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, etc...) alone made the trip to the ring memorable. Screw the race, walking through the Mercedes car corral and seeing multiple gullwing Benz's was incredible. Don't get me started talking about the Ferrari corral. Every BMW enthusiast needs to make a pilgramage sometime in their lifetime to the Nurburgring Historics (usually first or second weekend in August).
Ok, as zaust, stated earlier, i believe needs to be repeated, Nurnburg Ring is by far the best driving experience ever. Sure there are lots of other race tracks hundreds of miles closer... thats fine, for when there's an event. Lets put this as it needs to be said. Take any car, take any bike, at almost any given day, for at least half the day, pay around $75 and you get 4 laps to do with your hearts desire. Taking around 11 minutes to get one lap in, the ring is a drawn out driving experience that is the lenth a race track should be. Around 70% of the turns are blind so that factor can really keep the tip of your learning curve off in the distance.
I wouldnt suggest that just riding around the ring with someone else is the best thing, it probably could get a little boring. But from my perspective, maybe thats just because I wanted to drive so badly. Eventhough my run was done in a slow-ass Mercedes A, it was pretty exilerating getting it to speeds it shouldnt have been at.
In any case, do what you like, but a friend and myself are going next year... thats final. Renting a race car too.
Here are some pictures.

G-Man
I've seen a few 2002's here. most of them have the red dealer plates. they stay in the barn for most of the year, then slap the dealer plates on when they want to go for a nice drive.
