Help. Lost Tach, Fuel, and Temp. Fuse #10 blown

I thought it was a bad headunit install, but I had some guys check it out and they dont think it is. I've replaced the fuze (7.5) and it takes a few seconds before I lose my guages.

    Any suggestions? For reference, it's a 90 325is.

    Thanks,
    David

Sounds a bit like the SI batteries in the cluster, I could be wrong though.

When did it start happening? Right after the new headunit? The radio is directly related to fuse #10, and if the fuse goes out, obviously everything else that goes through it also goes out (namely the tach and blower).

        Double check the headunit install.

Definately sounds like some non covered wires that are shorting somewhere..

The headunit remains on - is that normal?

Shouldnt be. When my #10 went, so did my radio. Is the radio wired to the original 12v source? If not, whatever happened to that end? If there's a short there, then that'd explain it.

Mind you, I'm no electrician. Just giving my best guess.

Mine was the reverse light switch wire. My radio still works with fuse 10 blown.

Dreaded reverse lights rearing it's ugly head. Unplug the power wire switch and put new fuze in, fix wire and viola back in business.

This should be a permant stuck topic. This one is mentioned over and over yet the Search button is never used.

Definitely a short somewhere. It stopped doing it..... Thanks.

                        This should be a sticky!

It stopped "doing it?" How did you fix the short? If it's still there, its bound to happen again.
