Texas guys, can we legally smoke our parking lights and side markers?

And on that note, would one just basically Testors spray paint it like when painting the rear lights all red? Anyone know of the particular color/name of the paint? Thanks

I was referring to the color of the paint for smoking the parking lights and side markers. I can look that up in the DIY section as I imagine something about smoking should be in there. I was mainly wanting to know if it's illegal to do it in Texas.

Do not get the Krylon tint. It looks good at first but fades away in about a month.

I'm assuming you are referring to the spray tint made by Gila. But yeah.. it works great on glass but it was not designed to withstand the outdoor elements.

Typically smoking out your lights is illegal in most states, however, most times the cops won't give you crap about it when they have bigger fish to fry. I have been driving without a front tag for almost a year now and I have not been stopped yet.

smoking your lights is illegal in every state, as well as every country. but, as long as you have DOT approved reflectors, noone can touch you, the reason why I had ugly ass reflectors on my old touring with smoked lights.(in germany they do care, and you cant get away with it.)

It may not be legal, but a mild smoke/tint on them would probably go unnoticed. Enough to look nice but still be noticably bright/reflective as necessary.

I think I will just paint them red like I did my tail lights. I don't imagine smoked parking lights and side markers would look right if at least the headlights were not smoked as well...

I remember the time my cousin painted his car and didn't mask anything except for the headlights and the windows. He painted everything else black. When he drove his car down the strip that weekend people asked him how he manged to smoke out the tail lights so well and get them to blend in with the color on the car.
