Ad-Aware.
I use them both, one always gets stuff that the other misses. -
I assume you're on a windows based machine, if so, then it's spybot or nothing. Don't even waste your time with ad-aware.

Everytime I run Ad-Aware (once per week) I get anywhere from 20-50 files quarrantined and deleted. And most of them are stuff that Spy-bot misses. Spy-bot olny checks your system for specified companie's files, it has a list of ones that it looks for (although updated frequently). I doesn't hurt to run both. Each time you run them, be sure to run the update manager and get whatever the latest update is, there is always at least one.Comment

Hmm, I've found since they've started offering a "pro" version, ad aware's free client has gone downhill, it does a particularly bad job on browser hijackers. Spybot seems to do very well with those.
Browser hijackers are a pain, especially when you have to support a campus of idiots.

I only get hit occasionally. Then I just go in to task manager and kill the program, delete it, and then erase it form the registry and its gone.Im now E30less.
