Oddly have never heard of that before. Maybe stick to a simple baffle.

The oil pan gasket on the SRT-4 has "ears" the extend into the sump and serve a similar purpose.

I know a guy that had an oil pan scraper in his bored and stroked 2002 with m3 crank. The crank hit the scraper and blew the engine. I would stay away from the scrapers.

how would it hit... neither it nor the crank should move in a way that it would come into contact... there has to be more to that story

I looked into the one for the M30 I just built thinking it would be helpful for my high revving motor, but I decided against it after seeing the stock baffling in the pan and not wanting to spend another $50 on this project.
They are helpful when made right, I know of guys using them in M30's without issues...

well, then that means it was doing a job of keeping oil off the crank if it got that stressed. The e-bay one goes all around the oil pan, is that how his was?

worth while upgrade if the scraper is made correctly, prevents oil wraping around yoru crank in a kind of "hurricane" which in turns hurts your engine to rev, therfore if you have a scraper. less rotating mass....easier reving engine. scrapers are widely used in domestic racing, haven;t seen many on e30's non the less bmw's....it would be interestinf to see the difference on a m20.

On that one the bolts holding it are the oil pan bolts, if they snap you have bigger problems.

I would think that there would be a better way to mount it rather than being built in to an "oil pan gasket". I've seen something very similar to that on an OEM M52 oil pan with the mounting points being inside the pan.
