why do you guys want bioD so bad? Why not just tune your M20 or eta to get 30+mpg and be done with it???

even with bioD if you drive like a jackass you'll still get shitty mpg's

I'm gonna guess the attraction is if you run straight WVO, you can usually get the raw material for free. So as long as you have a buddy that owns a Chinese restaurant or a fish fry place, you should be all set. :)

I guess but that shite stinks, its messy and till you've done it most people dont realize how hard, messy, disgusting it is to collect the stuff... your trunk (or god forbid you have a touring) turns into a grease pit, you stink! Ever meet/know a fisherman?

I bought a MB 300td parts car once that was converted over to bioD... It was trashed, like the inside of the entire car was on the line at he local McDonalds... We junked the car because it smelled so bad.

The grass is always greener... get a mint eta and dont drive like a jackass - that (IMO) is the only way to keep the costs down

How do you "tune" for better gas mileage?? other than the obvious changing your driving habits...

I know that 280 hp and 400 ft lbs of torque in the new 335d and still being able to get 38 combined mpg is a pretty awesome thing. I want one.

first thing that comes to mind is putting in a shitty camshaft, like an eta cam into an i head or something.

other than that, I could imagine tuning the M20 for "more power" so that it takes less effort to get to teh desired speed more quickly.

and of course, lightening your car and especially any rotational or unsprung weight.

No, no you can't. All the Diesel shit is NLA from any Ford dealer. They'll just laugh.

Standalone makes it very easy. You can tune your fuel map to go to 16:1 or something under light load.

                                I want standalone :(
