    Insurance (calling all NJ e30ers)

    Guys (NJ e30ers):

Should have asked at the meet but who are you guys insured with? I pay an insane amount of money for just liability and I need to find a better carrier.

    Thanks in advance.

      Thanks Eric,

That's comparable to mine. I pay about $1,400 a year for liability only for my 88 is. Total ripoff but there aren't that many carriers here in NJ.

      Anyone else?

Why not use NJ Manufacturers? How clean is your driving record? You have any family out of state whose address you can use?

          Eric,

I give them a try. I was going to keep the car at a family friend's house in NY but the ins co wanted proof of residence, utility bills, etc. I guess I need to try harder!

I'm 21, and my parents are insured under NJ Manufacturers (as Mario (TIATO) said, it's not the easiest to get in). For liability and comprehensive (not really worth collision on a 1984 318i), I pay a shade under $1000 (I've been the primary driver since I was 17, no secondary drivers). I have one speeding ticket (80 in a 65 out of state, when I was 18) and my rates didn't go up at all. If I keep up this no tickets for another 8 months, I can stay with NJM when I move out on my own.

I've yet to hear of someone dissatisifed with NJM. Hell, my brother has a ticket (40 in a 25) and an at fault accident and his rates never went up.
