Your car has the m20b27. Someone must have put in the i cluster. My eta came with an i cluster and it confused the hell out of me for a day or two. Look under the hood at the intake, opposite the throttle body. Does it have a valve looking thing with a fuel line going into it? Also, does the vlave cover, towards the back of it, have a braket on it? About 3 inches long and half an inch wide?

If yes to any (which will mean all) of these questions, you have an eta.

The first m20b25 car in the U.S was I believe the 87 325is.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but my digicam is dead to the world ATM, There was an open house at a local BMW shop (Reggie's Motorworks) shortly after i picked my e up, and that is where i was told that i have the 2.5. Pardon my ignorance, but on this site as well http://www.vrchlabi.cz/e30/ruzne/enginenumber/ it says that the M20B25 was run from 1985-1986 then replaced by the M20B25Kat from 1986-1992. Maybe i just dont know what im talking about...lol

and here is an image of a m20b25 that i got from wikipedia...looks the same to me...

i have no idea. thats some wierd shit.

you dont have a late model radiator though.

engine swap is probably the culprit.

i was figuring on engine swap, but where can i find casting numbers to see what year the engine is out of? **sigh** this means tune ups are gonna have to be planned accordingly...lol...and since the odo gears are practically gummy bears, i have no idea how many miles are on it...

LOL...the two mikes had me confused for a sec...lol...wow i think its too early for me

That is not the m20b27. You have a motor swap. That could be the seta or the i engine.

i am not sure where the casting numbers are, but i know there is a thread here that details the process.

And valve cover. This is seriously fucking confusing the shit out of me. Look under the hood at the vacuume routing sticker. It will say e,es or i.

You my friend have just won the E30 lottery!

The thing that confuses me is you said you ran your VIN numer and it said you had an e but that it came with an I engine. How is this? It would make sense if you ran the motor number but your running the Vin? someone please explain?

maybe the person went to some official place and got it all taken care of and official.

just a wild stab in the dark.
