Need opinions on paint color and wheels for the 6er

Hoy, I just can't stand the Dodge Caravan / baby crap brown-gold paint on the new euro 6, and since I think she's gonna need a head anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and start the painting process in the next few weeks. As some of you might have read, I'm going with the Canadian guy's roll-on method, A la Frank's 345i. The body is super straight, only two small dings and one spot of rust under the left tail light, so I could go black, but the car lives outside and I have been fostering a guilty love for white sharks lately... Here are a few shots of random white cars that stood out as sexy to me:

Ok, so those are some of the nicer looking white 6ers. I have come to the conclusion that white 6ers MUST have a good looking sort of flashy set of wheels or they look sort of plain... I own a set of M Parallels, but I don't know if I am going to use them or sell them to get something cooler... I'm thinking either staggered Style 5s or Rondell #58s, here are some shots of the latter:

And one shot of a 6er on M Parallels with a pretty perfect drop:

Alright, so what do you think?

I like the color of the last car if your keeping your red int. But you might not be able to do a roller job with the silver met.

Yeah, that's why I'm pretty much trying to decide on white vs black. It's straight enough to pull off black, but white would be easier.

that 1st white with black looks super clean. you can't go wrong with the black and gold, though:D Either way it'll look really nice.

i know its not what you want to hear but id leave it and work with the paint you have. any color looks great if its cared for and detailed out. doing a roller paint job only devalues your car. the engine bay and the rest is going to be brown. you have a really unique car. if it were me , and its not, id do everything else first including a drop and wheels and leave the paint till last. i promise you youll regret doing a roller paint job on anything but the most meager driver

              Hmmm...

Well, the paint on the car is not original, it's a nasty ass gold metallic, and the clear is gone on the top, hood, and trunk. I have thought about wetsanding it out and polishing it... It's just so damn ugly!

To address the concerns that the engine bay and whatnot will be brown, my plan is to pop the motor out since it needs a head rebuild anyway, so I can paint the engine bay... I also was planning on pulling all of the interior except for the dash so I can get everything white.

Think I should save the cash to have it painted right? The car is worth it... Value is rising steadily on the 6ers...

              Shit.

The original color is Kashmir metallic (less gold, more brown / tan), and it was also ugly! Haha

Like you indicated, I would wait and paint it properly. Nothing like looking at a crappy ass paint job after the fact.

This one is astonishing, if you can't roll the color, go ahead and spray it, it's not that hard, I'm in the process, finished priming my trunk, hood and front left fender, the sanding is taking me ages and i'm overloaded with work, but a decent compressor and a paint gun won't set you back that much, (maybe you can rent them or someone can lend them to you).

Just get a door or fender at a junkyard and lots of thinner and practise priming for a day, it's easy ;) .

I hope I'm able to finish it before the end of the month and I'll post pics of the process.

I think despite the fact that it is a kick ass car, I want to try the roller method on my spare trunk lid and see how it turns out. If it's not good, I will not go ahead with the project.

Edit: ivo, I have considered that as well... I might look into it!

Now you've got options right here. ;-)

IMO, Sable Brown/Zobelbraun gets my vote. Pretty rare color and oh so pretty.

My daily driver 6 is Alpine so I'm partial to that color but changing colors is a lot of work to make it look right. If it were mine I'd go back to the original color and set it off with a set of well-chosen kickass wheels.
