    Cleaning Convertible top

After noticing that my convertible top was absorbing water i decided to treat it with
    303 product.

    303 Product

Wash - Well i started with the 303 Convertible Top Cleaner to remove dirt, grease and old rain water.

Dry - then i let it dry on full sun for 2 hours before applying the Fabric Guard also you can see that the water was absorb by the top.

Protect - After drying on full sun for 2 hours i apply the Fabric Guard to repel water

this is what the Fabric Guard does

this is my first review and hope you guys like it.

I've bought the Convertible Top Cleaner at Kragen's and I know you can get the Fabric Guard at West Marine.

Or both are available at Autogeek.net, if you don't mind waiting for shipping.

Looks like it worked pretty damn well! Is the second picture a shot of before you cleaned, or after? Got a before shot for comparison?

+1 for 303 products. I treated my top w/ fabric guard religiously once a year before the rains start in Oct until I picked up a hard top. Now the fabric top almost never sees water unless I'll washing it and it dries in the sun in 30 min. I've considered treating the fabric of the hard top but can't justify it as the aluminum and seals do a fine job keeping the water at bay.
                  Let's go exploring!

Anyone know if you can replace the rear plastic window without having to get a whole new one?

Yes, there is at least one seller on ebay that offers stitch-in window replacements

I have seen a local guy's cabrio that installed a stitch-in window and it looked really good except that he was sloppy with the alignment of the stitching.

I have heard mixed opinions on the stitch-in windows, such as they are a PITA to install. Many thought it was better to just buy a new top and not hassle with it.

But that is hearsay so you should do your own research before you decide whether a stitch-in window is the right choice.

If you do buy one, then keep us updated and let us know how it goes.

stitching in your own is a total pita- getting a shop to do it is even worse. get a new top or a hard top

oh yeah.. if your windows catch the top when closing the door...

Put a spacer between the rail of the top and the fabric (<1/4" thick) right by where the window catches and that will effectively let your windows by while not making rain come in.
