    Note to community about turbo's...

    Just a quick note....

Never use a flimsy rubber hose, attached to a filter, to be used on the compressor intake on the turbo.

it can cause you all sorts of problems.

    thanks.

normally aspirated... yes.... but w/ a turbo, they're under POSITIVE pressure.... it would blow out

                          Oh. I see.

But blowing a rubber hose off of it's assembly and just into the open engine bay shouldn't cause enormous problems... right? Did I miss something :?:

wait a second.... ignore me.... i mis-read him

I thought that he meant it was between the turbo & the intake MANIFOLD.... thus being under positive pressure. my bad

i'll give myself an 8.1 on the dismount here.... nice honest recovery if i say so myself 8)

Thanks. I'll continue to be correct in that case

                              Me > < Pete.
                              j/k Pete. ;)

So... if some cheap rubber hose got sucked into the compressor side of the turbo, I'm guessing the compressor wheel chopped it up into a million pieces, which were then pumped in the rest of the air-intake tubing, throttle body, intake manifold, all 6 cylinders, out the exhaust into the manifold, spun around in the turbine section of the turbo, then out the whole exhaust system. Are you using any type of intercooler? I hope not. That'd just be another fucked up part added to the list of things raped by rubber.
Yikes, sounds like fun to clean up.
