difference between e36 and 318ti rear brakes 5 lug swap q's

I'm in the last stages of getting the parts for my 5 lug swap. Yesterday I picked up the compleat front suspension and brakes from an e36 325is, steering rack, rear hubs, and calipers, leather shift boot, leather e-brake boot, leather e-brake handle all for $160!

Anyway the e36 and 318ti use the same pads, but different roters does anybody know the difference? Are the calipers the same, and the caliper cariers different? I got the hubs off the standard e36 are those the same as the 318ti, all use the same berring. Thanks for the info.

The rotors are 10mm bigger for the standard E36. The calipers, carriers, and hubs are all different too.

For the rear you need complete E36 318ti trailing arms, not just the hubs or normal E36 hubs.

oooo, is that a shiny 17" E34 M5 wheel I see in there!?!?!
Pitty you can't use it with the E36 bits in the E30.

I did the same for mine. The rear is basically the same. You need the knuckle & hub from the TI. The E36 rear will not fit. How about your front set up? All done? I have a problem with the tire being to near the rear wall.

I haven't started yet, the car was unexpectdly pressed into daily driver status, so I have to wait. It is my understanding that you have to use m3 offset bushings in the control arms, then notch out the bracket to get the wheel centered in the wheel well.

have you finished the swap? What did you end up using in the rear?

For the rear used the E36 Ti disc & knuckle. That is a direct swap. Easy. For the fron t, got it sorted out now. Used the off set M3 bushing & fabricated the mounts to push it forwards.

Jay, I make some parts you may be interested in to solve this problem.

                    Sorry, should have said
"Pitty you can't use it with the E36 bits in the E30 without MASSIVE flares on top of M3 fenders"

                    Hows that!?!?!

well we will see, i guess

the difference between et40 (e36) and et 20 (e34) is about 3/4" as I understand it Now if looking at lucasbmws's m3 replica wheels is any indication, 3/4" won't be that bad.

its too bad that nobody who has actually done the swap can or will give me offset numbers.

                        for the rear though!!

I test fitted one of my BBS's the other day (245/40 17x8" et38) and the tyre was sitting 1-2mm from the fender!!

Have a look at dave adams convertable, he use the E30 M3 parts and those M5 wheels (front 17x8's on the back too) and he had almost no room.

But if you have them it is a good excuse to go for the ultra wide body look.
