Need assistance in ID of a possible E30 Bilstein shocks

    Gang,

I need help with some research on an old Bilstein part #. I was given a set of supposed E30 rear Bilstein shocks but I can't find the part # on any US website. I'm thinking that possibly Bilstein changed their part #'s years ago or that these shocks came off a Euro spec car .

The Bilstein part # on the shocks is B36 1475 I did a search on Google and I get the following hits

http://www.bilstein.de/pdf/Entfallteileliste.pdf 6th one down on left hand column. Entfallen means now voided

This 1998 forum post mentions the part # http://www.digest.net/bmw/archive/v7/msg11763.html

This greek site mentions them http://www.lourakis.gr/sub/search/auto_timhlist.php?start=801 but I can't read Greek.

Are these shocks touring, HD or sport? I find references to them in overseas websites so maybe their were on a gray market car that was parted out.

Appreciate your insight in to what type of Bilsteins I've got. If they are E30 shocks, the Bilsteins are going on my daughters 89 325i 4 door 5 speed and the POS KYB's are coming off.

I took a quick scan of THIS application guide from Blistein and didn't see B36-1475 but maybe you'll find it with a closer look
      Let's go exploring!

Bilstein has the following on their website

A Friendly Reminder: Bilstein does not sell direct to the public. For questions or information
regarding the purchase of a Bilstein product, we recommend you contact one of our highly
        qualified retailers.

Any other ideas beside giving them a call and being put on hold for ever.

Guessing you got that from the US Site? Fuck them, what kind of shit is that? "We can't be bothered to answer questions from you simple people, please bother our distribution chain"....

I would try the German site, http://www.bilstein.de/cms_website/english/Contact/

                They are $409.00 here.

If that link does nor work, just go to www.shox.com I have ordered from them with great results.

I would sugest the Bilstein BTS shock and spring kit if you don't have springs, I got them on me E36 and love it.

You answered your own question (sort of) with the forum link:

                  It says

                  "Rear:
                  B36 2027 1475 Sport 1650/565 371 / 127 "

So, I'd say they are E30 rear SPORT shocks.

Put them on and find out- if they fit, what does it matter if they were made for that car or not??? (though it looks like they were...)

Just call bilstein, just because they don't sell directly to the public doesn't mean they don't take phone calls. They are in San Diego and have great service, you won't be on hold if at all.
