    Junkyard Dream Parts

Ok. So you can throw the Moonroof in here or even the BMW heater cooler thingammabob, because it is a possibility you could find one or the other... But, what I'm really looking for in this thread is... what usable parts do you never find in the junkyard.

For the life of me I can't score a GOOD (no broken tabs) Fuse box cover.

HA. yes i think i did.

once i found a set of H&R springs, but it was only 3, the 4th was nowhere to be found. some1 found a stroker motor in an e30 once, cant remember who but it was a local guy on my local forum. BBS rims are super rare but have been spotted. just gotta keep yer eyes peeled.

Yay, I hear that but I've been searching for one of these since I first started hitting Junkyards. It was one of the original pieces that I needed so My indiana Jones won't let me just ebay one for 5 bucks, Still have yet to find a decent one.

You need to start hitting the yards in LA. I believe there's at least three that I remember.

I found an E30 with no rust on it, and it was from the Northeast. True story. It had been driven around near the Cape and I guess it never saw road salt. I don't even know why it was in a salvage yard, the radiator core support just needed to be replaced! The floors were mint, not a SPECK of rust. All of the plastic plugs were in place as well.

I can't link you to a picture but in real OEM click: 82 universal accesories> then 82 26 interior accesories in general and you'll see the cool bag.

good scores I've had from yards:

                        -2 maplight mirrors
-full set of tan houndstooth door cards
                        -black door pulls/map pockets
-handfulls of various clips, fasteners, etc.

.. things i've seen/wanted but passed on (lack of time, tools, money, and/or motivation):

                        -various lsd diffs
                        -power sunroof mechanics
-a perfect dash (this was hard to pass on)

Things that I wish to find:

-ski pass rear seat (any color/material)
-a 'two-button' center console in good condition (two-door model sans third button on passenger side for whatever it's called that toggles power windows on and off - god, I hate that placement)

From what I've encountered, if you find a yard with good turn-over, visit it bi-weekly or monthly to increase likelihood of good scores.
