Crap, if you go to KU and met some idiot with a $3 haricut..

    see a doctor.

Apparently this guy has Bacterial Meningitis which is supposed to be really bad and like 20 people have been affected so far. They even showed this guys pic on the news so you know he isnt going to get laid in a LONG while (even without the meningitis).

Its nuts how easy things can spread across a campus this big.
    Im now E30less.

Holy shit. Bacterial Menigitis is VERY serious (unlike the viral counterpart). Without treatment you face almost certain death within 1-3 days. It's also refered to as Menigicoccal Menigitis.

They didnt say what it does but if you had met this guy to go see a doctor now. Apparently you dont wanna find out.

Mentioning the mandatory check. This must have come up last night because I think I saw some comment about KU not checking for this on the campus paper but it sucks so I only read the Times.

It's the swelling of the lining of your brain and your spinal cord, which is why you experience extreme headaches, as well as neck and back stiffness. Menigicoccal wil also give you sores on your body.

The sores are blakc and red.

Press a glass cup against the sores and if they don't go away, get to an ER quick. Like f**king quick. If you live, the sores will leave terible "craters" all over your body.

I'd suggest you guys that live in dorms to get the menigitis vaccine since it's more likely to appear/ spread when people are living in close proximity to each other.

:?: I think you misunderstood. Menigitis is spread by having direct contact with respiratory and throat secretions of someone already infected. Its not very contagious unless you are exposed for a prolonged time to the infected individual.

The meningitis vaccine out now is worthless... it'll only protect you from one certain strand that is only found on the east coast thus far.

my brother had Meningitis... thank god it was Viral, not Bacterial...

he felt like crap & was all super tired one day, then later he took his temp, looked at it & said "i'm 10 yards short of a touchdown".... that was the first indication that somethin was messed up.

then he started saying everything backwards and i mean EVERYTHING.... stuff like "yes" & "no", "hot" & "cold" got switched up.... he was all skrewed up sayin all kinds of weird shit. scary as hell for me, since i was only like 10 at the time & here my older brother was telling me "don't get help. i hate you, i hate you". of course it was scarier for him, after he got better he was like "dude, that was so messed up, i knew everything was coming outta my mouth backwards but i couldn't help it... i wanted so bad to say "i love you, go get help" but I couldn't. then i was tellin the doctors i was cold, so they kept on giving me blankets & i just kept on kicking them off saying, NO, i'm COLD, i'm COLD"

he spent a night or two at the hospital & was better in a couple days but man.... that was really scary

and yes.... Ken is right... swelling of the lining around the brain & spinal chord.... not fun

You can get an idea of how serious the viral menigitis is by reading Pete's post. If it doesn't get too bad you can actually stay home in bed with the viral version, but you wouldn't last two days outside the hospital with the bacterial one.
