What's this wire & how do u take doorlock out?

I pulled the door panel a few minutes ago and found a red w/yellow tracer and brown (i assume power and ground) with a round plug. It is located way up inside by the back of the key cylinder/door lock mechanisim. What is this for? Alarm? Remote actuator?

Second can anyone tell me how the eff I can take out the key cylinder? I see where you could take out the inside of the door handle, the lock itseld (the part that holds the door shut with the three phillips screws on the door) but for the life of me I couldn't see the way to take out the lock cylinder. I'm trying to replace the door locks and have no clue. I don't want to just start tearing things apart...

    Thanks for any help.

    lock cylinder removal

The lock is held in with a "C" shaped clip, it fits against the door skin, push it off with a large screwdriver toward the door hinges, then wiggle the lock out. I think the circular connector is part of central locks or heated locks, been a while since I had mine apart. If the locks are heated, the C clip has the heater element in it.

IIRC the cylinder is held by a retaining clip or clamp. you can see the orientation here. if you like working on your car, bentley manual is your friend and it's worth it

Thanks bmws50b30/blunt-m-postor... I see that #19 & #20 are the C-clips but I don't see anything to do with a heated lock. My vin is 4257545 and the same picture comes up when I put that in...

What's up with blunts shit on your profile? Also do you guys know anything about the deadbolt locks? I have the deadbolt lock on my car and the 45 degree lock doesn't work only the deadbolt function. I'd like to get this doorlock thing sorted ASAP.

Thanks for the help so far!
