1. My understanding is the cluster complete can be replaced with the different brand no problem.
2. Not sure. Probably can, but you'll need that snap in decoder part on the bottom right to match the cluster you're using.
Also, I would suggest finding a way to modify the face of the tach so you know that you are redlining at 4K and you do not push the car up to 5K thinking that everything is OK and that you are far from the red zone.
I don't know if you could find a way to take the label off of the old tach and put it on the new one because the Moto unit has a slightly larger dial than the VDO.
I swapped my VDO cluster in my 1984 for a Motometer with a 7k tach. It works fine. The only thing that is important is the color of the back of the cluster you CAN'T swap blue to white or white to blue.

FWIW I swapped blue clusters in place of my white cluster a few times (both vdo and motormeter) , you just need the right coding plug if you want it to display rev's correctly.
When my odometer went out in my 86 325, I swapped out my Motometer cluster with a VDO cluster I pulled from a 87 325e at the local pik-a-part yard. Everything works perfect on the VDO cluster except the gas gauge. When the tank is full, it reads a little over a half a tank.

Why would you want a 7K redline for a eta motor?
