    Flaring brake lines

When replacing the hard brake lines should you double flare or single flare the ends?

Also what is the correct gauge for the stainless steel hard brake lines?

    Thanks,
    Eric

not really what you asked for but have you considered buying oe lines? they are dirt cheap and come in the correct lengths flared with fittings attached. all you need to do is bend them.

Can I buy these at a local vendor like Auto Zone, or would I have to buy them from a BMW service department?

here is what you do, go to realoem.com and get a part number for the brake lines. Then go to BMAPARTS.com and find a phone number, put the number as a speed dial, and call them and order the parts.

Finding a flaring toold that will work for the BMW flares is no easy task .
Also cutting and flaring lines is no fun .

+1 for buying new BMW lines and bending them .

The bmw lines are a metric bubble flare, you could buy regular brake line and so a standard flare, but then you'd have to buy a ton of adapters to make the lines work with all the metric stuff.
