Dodge Ram Diesel vid @ 200PSI at 8K Rpms

yeah as the tile say seems to have those numbers in it...don't know how can a diesel engine rev up to 8 K rpms, and handle 200 PSI of press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Power pulling diesels use a lot of boost and very high rpm. The most I've ever seen in person is 100psi and 12,000 rpm for just over 6,000 hp out of a diesel. This was in a tractor pull in Nebraska. They may be hicks, but they are some serious power making hicks.

edit-- The engines I saw were not Dodge Diesels. They were far bigger than anything Dodge produces.

yeah, that boost number is suspicous but deisels tend to run about 48lbs. You have to keep in mind that those engines are biult purely around compression, that is the only thing that keeps em running.

Also you ever seen the injectors? They have to be sturdy to hold up to the compression.

don't know about the engine, if it's the OEM Cummins Turbo Diesel...and how can much handle a diesel engine the boost...if is prepared of corse to handle higher boosts...

You've got to remember that diesel engines compression ratios are already like 14-20:1. So, crazy high PSI for boost isn't impossible. Diesel engiens don't have the problem of preignition as petrol engines do (and can be more easily fixed by delaying the fuel injection into the cylinders).

Ive got a friend with a 2000 24 valve cummins. He is running 45 psi. Numbers are around 600 hp and over 1000 foot pounds of torque. He has an EZ tunable computer, air intake, 200hp injectors. HX-40 turbo with 4 inch downpipe into 5 inch exhaust. His exhaust temps get dangersouly close to 1600 so full throttle runs are nearly impossible. He plans to install propane and nitrous if he keeps the truck long enough. Its crazy to see this thing spin all four wheels for about 100 feet and smoke gt mustangs at stoplights. Throws huge clouds of diesel out the exhaust.

To clarify, most turbo diesels have to run a water injection system to keep the egts down. This causes a white smoke to come out of the exhaust. Ive also been told by a pro tractor driver that they use a 50/50 mix of milk and water in their injection system.
