questions about purchasing an e30 IX

i originally posted a WTB thread for an IX, but i've been reading some stuff about them read horror stories bout the transfer cases. any input?

i'm a former e36 guy (318ic, 328i, & m3) so i don't know much bout the e30 and much less bout the IX's.

i've searched but haven't really found much info directly related to the e30 IX.

i wouldnt let some horror stories scare you away.

your price range gives you an advantage in that you can pass on the real hurtin' examples. just dont rush it.

you have to pay to play with these cars, and they need regular attention. (not to be confused with constant attention, once all areas are maintained its just freude am fahren with some extra love and care)

the learning curve is mellow. everything is very straightforward and DIY kinda comes with the territory.
