    Shift levers thread

    Hello,

Does anybody have a link to a shift levers page/thread with pictures of different shift levers for reference with PN and dimensions ?

I am trying to figure out what exact lever to order for my car.

    Tia!

a quick search will give you this very informative thread

edit : and by personal opinion go with the 3.0l z4 shifter. I have the 2.5l Z4 and wouldn't mind a little bit shorter throws... although even the 2.5 is an amazing improvement over stock

edit2 : and don't even look into after market ssk. You can get a z4 shifter for <$50 and its all you need. :D

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for - http://www.mz3.net/articles/143.html

Problem is my car is old, it's got an old shift console so installing something like a z3 or z4 shifter isn't a direct bolt on from what I am reading..

Does anyone make a retro-fit column shifter?

                      Just kidding..

Lol, not having any luck. Even the damn stock shifter is on back order...oh well, this will give me more time to read on what will actually fit my damn car.

my 85e chassis that I just converted to an 87i had the metal pan shifter thing but the e gear box still had the ears on it for the newer style.. Take a look if you havent already, might be an easy conversion. Also, some of the pictures I have seen show a bolt on piece of steel strap for the back of the box to mount the newer style.

When I converted my E to an I driveline I put in a B&M short shifter and I have to say I absolutely love it!

The throws are incredibly short and because it comes with a little cup that raises the pivot point up, it is not even the least bit notchy.

My only complaint and it is a small one is that the shifter sits further forward in neutral. However after a month of driving it i am used to it and it doesn't bother me at all.
