ok cigarette lighter WTF

ok so from the day i bought my car i never used my "cigar" lighter.
i wanted to use it with my ipod connecter....i felt dumb i did some ghetto foilpaper wrapping shyt but it didnt work.

so how do i get it to fit standard US form. iv read about the Euro being bigger or something. help me. i need music. or i cant do my antenna delete!!

What I do is solder wire onto the cigarette lighter plug (the one for the iPod) then direct wire it...no messy wire anywhere being the goal.
