Should I follow-up on this one...

    His site for the car

    the cars.com ad

    Email one:
"This car is aweful hard to beat for the money for an autocrosser. Very light (2500 lb.) and very nice, predictable manners. As a track car, it is excellent for schools, as it is very neutral and extremely forgiving with great feedback from driver input.
It has a few minor cosmetic flaws, but it's pretty much as you see it in the pics, with Bilstien Sport struts/shocks and Eibach Pro springs. A very common and desireable setup. I also put an SCCA Solo 1 bar from Kirk in it and 5 pt. camlock driver harness. It has a Pro-formance chip for a little more enhanced mid-range torque, and a little larger diameter exhaust and Dynomax muffler. The car goes through a fairly rigorous tech inspection annually (last one in Feb. '04), so it's in top-notch shape, all wearing parts new or nearly new.
I am in Raleigh, NC. Let me know if you are interested in seeing it. I put it on Cars.com yesterday, and have gotten 1 phone call and 5 emails already...for whatever that's worth."

    Email 2:

"Overall condition, good to very good (I'm very critical, some might say
excellent.) Car has a 4 year old Maaco paint job (one of the better ones
I've seen them do). The person that had it before me hit a deer, and the
hood was repaired instead of replaced. I wouldn't have done that, you can
see the repair if pointed out.
I'm selling it to get a later model (E36). I just bought my college-bound
    son a '94 325is and I'm smitten....
I'm not sure this car is so extraordinary that it would warrent a trip from
Mass., but if rust is a factor with typical cars from up there, this might
tip the scales in this direction. I'd be happy yo take4 the car to a local
BMW enthusiasts shop for an assessment if you want. There are plenty of them
around here, or if you want, there is a shop Carolina Import Works owned by
Craig Gelston, who is a Speed Channel GT Challenge Corvette driver (very
knowledgable) who could give you a pretty good assessment. His # is
    919-872-0350."

So do you think this warrants my attention or time? The maaco paint job is kind of throwing me off, but if I plan on getting into some drivers schools and autox, this car is perfect. Plus I really dont need the power associated with the 6 at the moment, the highway efficiency would be nice back and forth from college. Has pretty low miles, and he seems to take real good care of it.

    What do you think?

I'd definately go for an ethusiant's car, especially one as strictly maintained as going through tech inspections. At least the ones we have locate problems pretty well, so the car should be in good shape.

At least it is in NC, you know there would be at least 10 buddies on R3V who can drive it for you and check it out. :D

I dont know.... it has a lot of downsides and a lot of goodies in it..... it seems like a fair price. He definetly sounds like an enthusiast though...

I would take it to a mechanics shop just to make sure. If they give the  then I say go for it.

$3200 seems like a pretty nice price. And the miles are low. I'm not sure it's worth a drive from Mass., but it seems like a decent car. It's got some nice suspension upgrades too.

Yup! No need to get a real inspection when I got some competent members down there!

Anyonein NC, think they may be able to help me out? Take it for a little run, really test it out, snap some pics for me? If so just shoot me a PM! Thanks

My bro is in VA. Beach so he could pick it up for me, and then meet me in DC at my sisters place. Cut about 3-4 hours off that drive, 6-8 round trip!

How far would the drive be? You only need to worry about the ride there being long. The way back would be shorter and more fun!

I drove four hours to Chicago and it was hella worth it. 8)

How's he getting 2500 lbs for a full interiored m20 powered car? Those are close to 2800 pounds, closer really to 2850.

Still a nice car, and the price sounds reasonable.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Figure what gas would be for the other car. Maybe about $125. See what getting a cheap one-way plane ticket would be.
