    Value of 91 318is

Im looking at a 91 318is. And i would like to know what you guys think the value is. Ive got plenty of wrench time with a M42 and have an extra block and head so thats not a problem(looking for a daily, already have S/M50 Cabrio project). Here we go:

    91 318is 156k,Diamond Schwarz,Grey Cloth interior

    The BAD:
    Blown head gasket
    Paint by maaco
    Cracked dash
Slight rust on the rear valance

    The GOOD:

Body is near pefect(no dents, scratches)
still has all 5 weaves and michelin pilot tires
    clean interior (besides dash)
No rust besides notorious battery tray aka rusted rear valance.
    AC does work
    Shadowlined(factory) and cleanly tinted.

    Thanks

Sounds like a solid $500 car to me .

I'd try lowballing with $400 first though .

That was his exact asking offer. And i tried lowballing with 400.;) Scary.
He was pretty firm. I was just trying to see if anyone else thought it was worth it. Since im only looking for a daily. The thought of a swap came to mind though.

          Real paint job $3500
Cheap, acceptable paint job $1500 (with you doing prep).
          Engine fix, $400
          Dash $150

I would say, it is worth every penny of $500. (assuming you can do much work yourself)

If it were in Portland, I would own it already.

Lots of cars I buy start out as potential drivers/project cars, until I find something catastrophicly wrong with them, then I part them out.

For $500, basketweaves and grey cloth sport seats will take care of that.

God's country has mass amounts of salt ;)

maaco (here) doesnt mean bondo, it just means that someone is a cheapass

I just sent you a PM about the wire
