Hi all, I'm new here !

I've been told about this forum on dtmpower.net . I'm considering an S50 swap and everyone keeps telling me there's a lot of info to be found on your forum. Swaps are not exactly popular where I live, maybe because they're illegal...
Anyway I justed wanted to say hello, and maybe "thanks in advance" because the odds are I will be asking quite a few questions! :D

      Rede30, Welcome to R3V! :D

Not to talk down to the noob, but this topic has been beaten to death. The search tool is sometimes difficult to bring up good results, so I'll help you out:

Anyway, here are a couple good sites to look at:

http://www.e30m50.com is a great source, and it follows one boys progress on doing the swap himself

The Zionsville CD is a generic swap kit. It is a "universal" kit for all E30's, and there are a lot of factors that need considering in different model E30's that arn't covered in the swap CD. Examples: wiring info is different on almost every E30; 84-85 318, 84 325e, 85-87 325e, 88 325e, 87 325i, 88-91 325i, '91 318is.
The M50 swap is the same as the S50, as the engine externally are the same. So the process will be the same, the results......very different,

Stu's father is one of the premier BMW engine rebuilders in the nation. He pioneered the swap. He can be very helpful, to say the least. He put an OBD-1 3.2L S50 in Stu's 318is. 8)

Lukas is a member he and has a M50 swap.
Trent is a mod here and has a M50 with M3 cams.
Ryan Stewart is looking at a S50 swap as well.

Here is a BF.c thread about the swap. BF.c is a good forum, but not nearly as technically knowledgable on the whole as R3V:

              Bienvenue à R3V!

La plupart de personnes ici aiment les lumières françaises, parce qu'ils sont "Euro," ou quelque chose. Tu connais, les lumières de brouillard avec les objectifs jaune?

(Je suis desolé si mon français est mauvais. Je suis un étudiant.)

EDIT: J'ai oublié....as-tu les photos de ta voiture??

The funny thing is E30 owners in France are hell bent on getting rid of their stock yellow lights and want to swap them for clear ones ! So hopefully the Euro lights you're after shouldn't be too expensive.
In France theoretically every modification is illegal, you won't be covered by your insurance in case of an accident if your insurance realizes that your car is not entirely in stock form (aftermarket seats or steering wheels alone can make your car illegal, let alone engine swaps...) .
I still don't have a Bimmer, I keep searching for a cheap (I'm a student) 320 or 325i, preferably without the chrome trim.

Bimmerphile, ton niveau d' anglais est très bon, félicitations ! ;)

Lol, just have your car change over using built-in jacks and switch the steering wheel like in Taxi. Tell me you've seen it, as even I have. Nothing like a Peuguot that converts from boring to street racer at the stoplight. ;)

I saw the movie, and I even was in Marseille when they shot it! Seeing the 3 DTM-like 406's they used parked side by side was quite impressive...

Good. :) I would sound like a rambling lunatic if you hadn't seen that movie.
but think about it, get an E30 that at the push of a button widens its stance, lowers itself, and then you change the steering wheel.

Kris, you gotta see this movie. You might actually understand the words.....I understood 0% of the speaking.

It stinks you cannot modify your cars.....what if you do it stealth, like how can they tell if you've done internal engine work?

p.s. It's funny how you can speak much better English than Diego.
