Sure it did, I had a CD player in 4th grade, which would have been like '88. My dad had one a year or two before that.

So would every 1991 e30 have a plug at the rear of the deck for an optional 6 pack?

Yes, However trying to get a changer to work is an absolute bitch (or I thought so)

Alpine decks only work with alpine changers, pioneer only with pioneer changers, etc...

I think the "rolleyes smiley" is more of a "duh, you didn't know that?" emoticon.

                        bimmerphile :

So even like a base model 318i would have a spot for the 6 pack plug at the back?
Will a new Alpine or pioneer 6 changers work or is it a BMW plug?

PS: Having my own desk and computer at my new summer job rocks!!!

Don't waste your time trying to find a factory CD player or changer. Most aren't worth the plastic they're made out of.
For the same price you'll pay for one on eBay (probably more than the option was from the factory in the case of the changer), you can get a pretty damn nice aftermarket receiver.

It's a special BMW plug, which costs $40 from pioneer and $55 from Alpine. Only the "factory' changers will work with the HU's.

Yes, even the base-model 318iS without the sound package had them as an option.

Ha ha ha, you guys need to dig a little deeper.

Compact disc technology was first invened in 1957. It was not available to the public however, becuase the disc itself would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, not to mention the ability to play them. In fact, they weren't even music CD's.
