    My Taurus sideskirt encounter

So I went to the local junkie( old junk yard crap joint). Told him what I want and what I would pay. We agreed to $30.00. Took me to a Taurus and left me alone to remove. Got them off and went back to the office to pay. Guys say "wow" those are bigger then I thought. I need to get more for them. I said $35.00 He said $40.00. I said no. He said $40.00. I said bye bye. Just as I get to the door he said OK.....
Should have listend to someone and bring some cutters to cut plastic screws off. I ended popping them out with a straight edge screwdriver. Anchors rust in rocker panels so plastic screw just spins without screw extracting. CUT EM OUT.. blah blah blah..
    DLM

for the record wether you like Taurus side skirts or not.. we all like some young skirts on the side....

I hate shady junkyards like that. Theres one i go to around here that works on a sliding scale. First they ask you what you have, then what kind of car it came from. Ive found that on the average "ford" parts are 10-15 dollars cheaper than bmw parts. Theres been more than a few times when ive laughed in peoples faces and put down whatever i had and walked out. Ive pretty much stopped going to the ones that price shit by sizing you up, in favor of the ones that have fixed pricing that they display.

      amen to that!

i got my class five tow hitch for 30 bucks.. that was the owners price, his little minion buddy priced it at 75.... HA HA! when i went back and told him 30 he called the boss right there in front of me and checked like i lied to him or something! fuckn ass holes, now i just throw everything over there fence.
some junkyards deserve it, some dont..

yea...as some of you know I am a student co-op at BMW....

well, I made the mistake of going to a junkyard in my BMW uniform. Ended up paying $50 for a nissan sentra turn-signal. Normally I wouldnt pay that, but it was for my wife (I backed into her car) and I didnt feel like arguing.

I went to the pick and pull after work on a Wednesday in my button down shirt, dress slacks and patent leather Kenneth Cole shoes, they charged me $12 for both with end caps...

Different prices for different yards. Junkyards like mine, and like a lot of others, are part of a nationwide parts network, with access to inventories and have standardized pricing. Others however, operate under their own jurisdiction, and set their prices to whatever they want.

That's the day you wish you'd found an M3 out there... :D

"Oh, this motor? It's just a little 4-banger, it's not worth much, I'll take it off yer hands. I can have it for free, too? Cool, thanks man."

my uncle once ran a yard and he was a stand up guy.

He sold the place because he was tired of dealing with "thieves and dickheads".

Both sides of the story are true to an extent. “Us bmw guys” are likely to be decent enough folk. Imaging what those “Ford assholes” are like !

but yeah - anything bmw-associated is like +15%
