Norton Internet Security to block the popups and run Spybot Search and Destroy to remove the spyware.

With Spybot, get it at download.com. There are a ton of sites that come up first on a google search that actually download spyware/malware claiming to be spybot.

I don't know what is wrong with the world. I NEVER get popups, except for maybe one whenever I visit a site that is hosted by GeoCities, etc.

I think if you take care of your computer well enough, you should have NO problems at all.

I do not have any anti-virus or popup blocker, and I've never been infected by a virus, have had any problems with pop ups, or even spyware........

I just don't get how people get screwed over with these things...... :?

If you dont want to buy a spyware application to get rid of these popups (which are spyware if they are coming up when you arent on websites) then just Ctrl+Alt+Delete, go to taskmanageer and kill any suspicous programs that are running under your username. Kill SNMP under SYSTEM while you are in there, its a program you dont need and can cause trouble if you arent behind a router.

Then before you shut off or log out go to the RUN option of the Start Menu and type regedit.

            Hkey_local_machine
            -SOFTWARE
            -MIcrosoft
            -Windows
            -Run

And in that folder look for the suspicous programs and delete their keys altogether AFTER writing down thier paths. That stops windows from automatically starting them when it turns on.

Then find the program from its RunPath in regedit and delete it. Restart or relogon to see if it worked.
            Im now E30less.
