    E30 M3 costs in Germany

I have the option of being based in Germany soon and I was wondering what the cost of an E30 M3 is over there. Also what would the cost of shipping back to the states run me? Thanks.

Another thing, the European S14 is beefier than the US version as well, right?

The earlier versions are identical to the US spec S14, except that there was no cat. Later model year S14s went up in power to 215hp, from 200hp (w/o cat.)

The internals on the later 215hp versions were identical to the EVO 2 internals, but I'm not 100% sure, except that the regular M3s had cats. compared to the 220hp EVO 2.

As far as I've heard, it's not worth it to try to import a car into the US. They have to pass a ton of DOT requirements.

With the amount of $$$ and time importing and clearing it with DOT, you can get a US M3 and spend less and make it more powerful.

I'm not 100% but I think I can pretty much just drive it up on the back of a C130 and have it shipped to Fayetville (base closest to me and the fiance's home town) But how much do they cost over there?

I live here in Germany and have a E30 M3. You will not be able to get the car back to the states without spending about 10,000 in fees to get it back. the average M3 here runs for about 12-15,000 euros. thats about 17,000 dollars for a nice one. you can fins abused ones for about 10,000 dollars once in a while. I just spoke to a soldier yesterday who has just bought a E34 M5 3.8l. he said that you have to give to customs 1.5 times the blue book value of the car for taxes! and it will cost atleast 7,000- 10.,000 to have one of the 2 places in the states to convert it. Not all early model m3 were no cats. they had 195ps - w/cat 200ps-no/cat(mine) later models were all 215ps-w/cat. the evo II was the late model motor with no cat hence 220ps and the evo III with the 2.5ltr

but my car will make it back to the states on day, it just has to be 25 years old and can be shipped back as a classic, and no conv. has to be done. except the cat. I think

Where can I find the rules for importing European cars into the US?

Is it 20 years, or 25 years old?

The evo III has 238 ps. I have a friend who shipped a mini cooper over to the states and had no problems, it had a title that said it was a 1969 or 70 though. like it was said before, its not worth the trouble unless the car is a classic. buy a clean E21 if you come here, they are old enough now.

Im not really sure, but I am more on the thought of it being 25 years. I was planning on moving back to Chicago a few years back, and was going to just put the M3 in the container with all of my furniture, but that wont work either I found out, customs wont allow it. even if I couldnt register it, I would have still been happy to have it over there.
