I would be interested in trying that just for grins and giggles. It couldn't be that hard to retrofit the parts from an SUV or minivan. And then to add an extra special touch, it would be cool to swap out the center console with one from a sedan so that you can have all 4 switches in the same place as if it was a 4-door car.

Why don't you just unplug the gong? It only takes 30 seconds.

Because I happen to like the gong when it alerts me to various things that come up. I just don't want to hear it when I KNOW why its gonging.

It will be plug and play with virtually all e30's AFAIK. Or at least according to my experience, and the research I've done using the factory BMW electrical diagrams. It's would be a rare bird that this would not work with. I can't say anymore with out giving too many details.
