How would I mount a front air dam to my Cabrio?

I see air dams for sale on ebay and craigslist for diving board cars like mine.

Would like to put one on my cabrio, but many of the air dams for sale don't have mounting brackets and they are NLA from the stealership.

Does my car have the brackets already for the stock lower front air dam, and can I use those, or can I just attach the new air dam to my front bumper with self-tapping screws and a drill or drill holes and use nuts and bolts?

Looking at the "ES" type air dam, the kind with the recessed fog lights and the 2 or 4 lower air ducts. You know the type.

Something like this one, but maybe with 2 lower air ducts instead of 4, although either style would look great on my Cabby:

BTW, anyone have one for sale and if so, cost + shipping to 94945 Zip Code.

Locals, I have some Blue Leather Cabby/M3 sport seats to trade - they have the usual wear and tear, but 3 of the 4 heating elements work, as do most of the mechanicals, except the seat shocks.

Oh, can I use my existing fog lights with this type of air dam?

    Thanks.

YES , you just answered you're main question .
Generally you can run screws into the sides so they are hidden by the bumper surround and then use bolts or zip-ties going through the foglight mount holes in the bumper into the ducting behind the spoiler .

The spoiler with 2 holes on the lower portion are from the "es" models while the 4 hole version is from the '87 "is" , the extra holes are to aid cooling of the oil cooler .

Your current foglights wont just fit in the air damn but I'm sure you could get them to work .

What he said. Since all cabbys are "i" engined cars, you don't want an "e" spoiler blocking your oil cooling.

I am doing the exact same fitment on my cabbie, and have the Air dam. Got an ES even though the IS is better suited since it would cool down the oil cooler better.
My brackets are broken and I am making new ones, it is a pain but I feel I will get a much more solid mount using the original mounting pattern.
You can fit your foglights in the Airdam since I did fit mine in, very little mod on your OEM brackets to fit and it doesn't look weird.
I had been able to get a picture of the brakcets on bimmerfourm if you wanna do a search. I might be able to send you a link later.

Bottom line, it is very doable and will need minimal fabrication work if you wanna make your own brackets. I am in the process and it only takes a bit of time.
FYI, I got mine on Ebay for around $100 shipped, in pretty good condition

There is a guy who remade the brackets that hold the air dam on. He sells them on ebay. I've used him and they're good. There are a total of five that you need. Then you're going to have to figure out what nuts and bolts you need.

Any username for the Ebay guy? I'd buy the brackets if they are decent priced.
