looking to put together a small kit that I can stowe in the trunk in hopes that I'll avoid future situations like I had last night - fuel pump relay crapped out. I want a lightweight little package with essential spares only. Thinking:Fuses (at least two of each amp rating)Relays - one extra/good used of each)Belts (I usually carry a new set but some carry the complete old set)Test LightBridge wire (if you blow out a relay it has two male prongs to jump the relay)Electrical tapeZip TiesWire stripper/snipsSpare bulbs (brake, turn, parking, interior)Extra coil wire & extra #6 plug leadStock ECU ChipAnything else? Should I include any other little things in there that I'm not including? I would like to have the peace of mind to know that I can deal with the random things like a fuel pump relay crapping out - the items that are totally random and not normal wear & tear - or that do not have a service life, they just go from time to time. Also anything else that may just go randomly. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

That's a good plan. Throw some tools in there too... I have a small duffel bag in the back of my 5er that also has a spare headlight in it (stupid sealed beams...), some hand tools (wrenches, drivers, a pair of Saab channel locks - the best pliers the world has EVER seen) and a spare ECU (paranoia).'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5Comment

LOL.... Luke you crack me up. I've got a bit of water in the trunk. I have usually kept a full tool set and crazy spares... enough to do a major tuneup but I want to tone it down a bunch to save weight. I weighed everything and was shocked to learn that I had ~160lbs of tools & shit in the car. I want to keep it down to ~25lbs so I want the bare essentials. I don't want to carry tools past what comes in the stock tool kit in the trunk so anything you can't repair with them (which is a lot) I'll call a flatbed. I will look into purchasing that inflatable girlfriend though...Comment

extra oil...trust me it comes in handy when you're on the freeway and the little engine oil light comes on.Comment

kinda like duct tape, but not metal-based, and doesn't leave much residue

Handy and AAA card and streamlight a few road triangles incase you do breakdown. How often does your E30 break? Mine has left me stranded once due to my stupidity, and that was due to I forgot my spare tire.Comment
