differnences in m3 years???

alright guys i'd like to know the differences in the m3 betweens all of the years, what they added and what they changed...or if you know somewhere i cna find this. point me in the right direction.

bwt i also hear in 1988 m3 were handbuilt? is this true?

there were so many differences in the years, especially if you are talking about the euro models. I know there is a site that tells alot about the years difs. but cant remember it.

Differences in US M3's are trivial.
Sealed beams until ~8/87 production.
Ellipsoids from 8/87 production through 1989 model year.
Sealed beams again from 1990 model year.
From 9/87 production...offset control arm bushings.
From 9/88 production....aluminum control arms.
From approx. mid 1988 production....Evo lower airbox.
Airbag from 1990 model year.
Fixed rear quarter windows from 1990 model year.
Optional heated front seats from 1990 model year.
ALL US M3's have:
Power windows
Power door locks
Cruise control
Leather seats
Power sunroof
Full OBC
Premium sound system
Integral shift boot and knob in leather
Heated door locks, mirrors and windshield washer nozzles

Ooooh, I'd like to get a set of those. Anyone know any other models that the fixed rear windows came in? Stupid pop-out windows.

well my 90 325is has them, i think all e30's after 89 had them...correct me if i am wrong.

Deletion of pop out windows and ellipsoid lights in 1990 was a cost saving measure. BMW needed to offset the cost of adding airbags.

Ill pass, I live in the land of E30s, I have 3 e30 parts cars in my yard, and one of them has pop out windows. they seem like they would be loud and let air enter through the seals at 140mph

Mine don't make any noises...
I want to put E46 M3 power acutators on them, as I like having them open at low speeds, but anything over 45mph they just make too much noise if the windows are up.

If your looking an an '88 Lachssilber car it will either have sealed beams or ellipsoids, it will have pop-out windows and steel control arms.

I bought my car totally stock 2 years ago like that but with aluminum control arms and 17" wheels.

Thus all M42 318is' have non pop out windows, and shadowline to boot. Check out junkyards, there's always one somewhere....
