They are slugs at low RPM. A MarkD chip wakes up that motor like an eta.

Same ways, you can always swap in a 4.0 easily later.

Yea the 530 sucks, and that car isn't that cheap. Find a 535 or 540 if you want a v8 I would rather have an M50tu than that v8. There shouldn't be any nikasal issues since that engine would have died already but if it isn't a local car the gasoline composition could be different where you live and thats what can make the engine go bad.

I honestly never cared for them back in the day when they were new. They just did not have the feel that the 540i or the older 535i had. Very lazy feeling at low rpm's. Personally I would look for a e34 535i 5 speed before thinking about a 530i. I also thank that the car you are looking at seems to be priced a little high( IMHO ).

The 530 is an alright car. Honestly, I chose the 530 over the 535. It's a little more refined and has less of an "archaic" feel to it. Coolant is also self-bleeding with the m60's, which I think is pretty sweet. It does kinda suck at low rpm's though, but that will be solved when I throw in the 4.0l next summer. Some things to watch out for the m60 engine are: intake gaskets/pcv plate, cooling system, 50-65 mph shimmies caused by shitty thrust arms, and delaminating interior door panels.

Oh and to people who are like "zomg nevar buy the nikasil, it will fail on joo!!!!, that's complete bs. The chances are if the engine made it this far you have nothing to worry about. But if you want to make 100% sure, get a compression test.
