Cooking headlights?

Has anyone done this to get the lense apart? I'm not sure if getting 'em too hot will destroy 'em or not so I just wanna see if anyone has any suggestions. How hot, for how long?

havent done it with the e30 lights, but cooked my focus headlights at 300 for about 10 minutes and pried em apart... Heat guns work too.

I did it with my Subaru. Ruined my mom's oven mits and got silicone on her cookie sheets. She was pissed.

It works, but you don't need to get it that hot, you might melt the plastic. I did about 10minutes at 150F then they came apart pretty easily with the help of an xacto.
