    Deal, or. . ?

I found an '89 325is engine & trans for $500. It has the harness, starter, compressor, and ecu included.

175K miles, in good condition. Assembly was removed from a wrecked 325.

Is this a good transplant for my newly-acquired '91 318ic?

i personally wouldnt trade an m42 for an m20, but if thats what you want to do, you found a good price.

I would agree. whats all wrong with the M42?. Ive got several parts as well as a whole engine. The head might be spoken for shortly.

I've had both engines before, and I prefer the six to the M42.

The M42 is a fine engine, but the M20 turns my crank.

I haven't taken the engine completely apart yet, but it looks like the crank timing gear came apart.

The torque is always nice. But R3v happy is just as fun.
IF you know what you are doing it would be a good swap. And you can probably get some money out of parting the rest of the 325. That is if your wife likes cars in teh driveway

*edit, I thought you got the whole car. Scratch comment about parting

I'll have a handful of parts to sell anyway. The 240 that's in the car was rebuilt 2 years ago, and the M42 might have some usable parts.

I already have the 318, my M3, my truck, and the girlfriend's 325ic in the driveway. I need to cool it for a while.
