    1/4 times from Sat. Night

My friend's persisted, so I thought - aww, hell, time to go see how bad the Eta does.

    Don't flame me.

Let me start off by saying - was I out of place? YES. Was it fun? Nah..not really. Did I feel like I wasted my $15? YES, I'd rather be autocrossing. Will I go again? Maybe just to hang out, but I don't understand the fun is speeding in a straight line? It's really not all it's cut out to be...

I raced my friend in his 1986 RX7 GXL three times - completely stock (his car) and his times were pretty much at 16.5 the whole time.

Here's the results from my fastest run out of four, and my last one of the night:

    R/T ... 209
    60 ... 2.6
    1/8 ... 11.219
    MPH ... 63.26
    1000 ... 14.553
    1/4 ... 17.352
    MPH ... 80.46

It has a chip, and I had removed my spare.

    Why did I post this?
Just to let people know what an Eta with a chip could do in a 1/4 mile - and support, even more, the idea that they aren't really that fast. 8)

    Why did I go?
I wanted to see what this thing was like. I found out - I didn't enjoy it all that much. I thought it was quite stupid, actually... :? And, because I wanted to hang out with my friends, and laugh at what this car got. It's funny, cause all my friends thought I would be faster - and I had to keep telling them I wouldn't be...

It launched fast, but the car was slow after that...

I can see the flaming coming - but, PLEASE realize, I was not set out to win races or showoff or anything like that. I was out there to see what this car could do in a 1/4 mile and now I know. Maybe this will shut my brother up when he says this car is soooo fast...man he's dumb.

Here I am to jack your thread: What do you guys think a 325i with no spare-n-stuff, 20x6 slicks, unhook PS and AC (just belts), and a 60 shot of nitrous (dry) would run?

      hi mate

dunno about wityh all the nos n stuff....but my 325i did it in 16.1 a couple of weeks ago at Santapod (UK).

Thats with a www.e30zone.co.uk chip and k&n panel filter. probably cnaclelled out by me having a sub, tool box and trolly jack in the boot hehe

since then I have reset the valve clearances anmd fitted e36 injectors. Has a lil more oomph now.

Hi 15s seem the order of the day for 325s over here,

Brilliant fun...even when I went against a 330 rwhp rx7 and got my arse kicked (he did in 13.1 or summet)

      Stu

I took my car to the track right before it was painted while it was nothing but the driver's seat(milano look alikes). Best was a 15.1@ 91mph. That was on stock basketweaves, intake, exhaust, and the bmp kit fitted(might have shaved a few more pounds). I weighed the car on the track scales and it was 2730 with me in it.

I'm guessing that you could pull some high 14's no problem. That wide a slick might actually slow you down though. I doubt you would have a problem hooking up with just some decent performance tires.

17.3 isn't that bad. I don't see anything wrong with running any car, I will run my 85 when it's ready and the only mods that car will have is... headers, no cats, chip, modified airbox, 3.73 LSD... We'll see what it does eventually!

Isn't you car a Super Eta actually?

That's because you were the slowest guy there driving a 17 sec car. lol.

Actually I wasn't, there was some riced out old civic that got 18.5

But, yeah, I was pretty slow. Even if I was fast though, I wouldn't get as much enjoyment out of it as everyone else does.

My car is a Super Eta - but, until that car is running, I'll be drivin the familiy's 1987 325 - that has a chip in it - so I took it on down for the heck of it. ;)

Actually your car has alot left in it, a 2.6 60ft is pretty bad, no offense ;) .

For comparison, Oreogaborio took his chipped eta and ran low 16s, and my old eta ran a 15.97 (2.0x 60ft)with a chip and 3.46 lsd.

-808BMW.... I drove my friend's '87 325is and ran a 15.4@88mph on a 2.3 60ft. The car was bone stock and had 252k miles. It could've gone faster but I only got to make 1 pass in it.

                      none taken. :P

Really? I honestly think it COULD run better. I could probably do an oil change, a clean filter, and maybe run some seafoam thru it. I shifted real damn fast (has a z3 2.5 shifter installed) and, my reaction time was fairly quick for that run (my fastest was .143). I don't think I carried it as far as I could have in first though, I think I shifted too soon.

It's no big deal to me really, anyway. ;)

How did you get 15.4 with an is?? Elevation could have had an affect on that too?? (being lower?)

                        16.4 with chip, 3.25, throttebody, inakte/exhaust.

LIke yours there was plenty of room for improvement because I cant drag race worth crap. I will probably only go back to see what the S50 can do.

You just needed a much better launch, thats all. You've got almost a seconds worth of time to lose by your 60ft alone.
Your reaction time has nothing to do with your ET or mph, so don't worry about trying to cut a good light. Take your time and find the best rpm the car likes to launch at and let the clutch out smoothly, yet quickly. IIRC, my eta left best at around 2.5k-3k rpms.

Elevation can play a big role in performance if you're way up in the mountains, etc.... I happen to live in an area with one of the lowest elevations in the country, so it helps. :D
I don't know what the elev. of Boise is but unless your in the thousands, then you're not that bad off.
